A load more FISA stuff just out from friends and colleagues. First, Mike "Willis With An L" Lillis of the Windy explains that the civil-liberties faction wins out from Reid’s decision to punt on the Senate vote until after the July 4 recess:
That’s good news for opponents of the bill, particularly Democratic Sens. Chris Dodd (Conn.) and Russ Feingold (Wis.), who are leading the rally to gather the 40 votes needed to sustain a promised filibuster. (Dodd gave an impassioned speech last night on the topic.) They’re still plenty of votes shy of killing the bill, but the numbers are rising. Yesterday, Sen. Ron Wyden (D-Ore.) announced that he’ll join the filibuster effort. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) and Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-Cal.) have also signaled their opposition.
But will anything satisfy ACLU firecracker Mandy Simon?
That whistling you’re hearing is the slow release of air from the ACLU’s tires. As the moments tick by, the grim reality is we’re headed towards a total capitulation on FISA and telecom immunity. Well, I hope you weren’t too attached to the Fourth Amendment. Or really any sense of justice at all.
And Julian Sanchez just hopped off the Bolt Bus from New York to lace into the Democrats at TAP:
Republicans got precisely what they had wanted all along, and Democrats seem not to have wheedled even a mess of pottage in trade for the rule of law and the Fourth Amendment. But give the House leadership points for at least accidental honesty: "Compromise" can also mean "to make a shameful or disreputable concession," which fits the deal brokered by Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-MD) to a tee.

Dodd’s speech (now online) was a stunner.
