Third in a series: punk rockers on daytime TV. Practically everyone from the mid-80s NYHC scene is in this Donahue segment from 1986. Harley Flanagan from the Cro-Mags! Jimmy Gestapo from Murphy’s Law — who, despite the name, is the nicest guy ever to buy beer for high school kids outside Coney Island High. The Vinny Stigma appearance is particularly awesome. Ray Of Today gets physically shtronnnnnnng and mor’ly… straight as he previews the ethic that would become ’88 hardcore. Rumembuh when punkrockiz had outtaburrow ack-sense? Yeah, didn’t think so. If only Lawrence Kaplan from World Affairs fanzine was there.

Wow, a pre-Krishna Ray of Today. God I hated it when people started pretending that they were Hare Krishna.
I do like this one Shelter song though. I forget what it’s called but it had that line “she trades sex for love/ he trades love for sex.”
Awesome, it reminds me of when the punk band was on CHiPs.
