No more than the Sunni militias are “bought” by the Americans.

The bottom line is that the Iraqi Arabs don’t like occupiers. It is convenient for factions of Iraqi Arab Shia to accept Persian training and supplies in furtherance of ridding Iraq of occupiers.

That does not mean that the Persians are going to be invited in as the new occupiers.

Foreign Wahhabists (Al Q) are despised more than Americans.

There is no good reason for any continued American presence in Iraq.

Incidentally, McGuiness and the others advising the Iraqis at that conference aren’t so many years removed from being terrorists themselves. An object lesson in what can be achieved when talking to ones enemies is an opportunity, not treason.
