Something’s gone wrong and I’m sick and will need to lie down in a moment, but before I do: I mentioned my band The Surge earlier today, so that seems like a good a hook as any to say that if you’re in D.C. on Saturday afternoon, we’re playing at the Velvet Lounge, 915 U St. NW, conveniently located a few blocks from the Green Line metro. We’re on with local heroes Helsinki — I’m told Katy from Punk Planet is in the band — and I’m really happy to say we’re welcoming L.A.’s Max & The Marginalized — who play great and topical political punk rock — to the District. I think we’re pretty awesome, but M&TM are doing something really innovative: touring entirely around different cities’ Drinking Liberally events. It’s really worth supporting, and so I hope I’ll see you on Saturday.
