Why the left’s analysis of imperialism is inadequate

You’ll recall that, prior to the outbreak of the war, several of our military leaders raised logistical and other technical objections: the proposed invasion force wasn’t big enough, an extended deployment would put a major strain on our military machine, and eventually the whole thing would begin to break down. Rumsfeld – he of the magical “transformation” of the US military – shut them up, and forced the worst offenders – notably Gen. Eric Shinseki – into retirement. The “over-extension” argument didn’t deter the Bushies then, and there is no reason to believe it will now.

The right wing radicals along with Israel are hell bent on a military confrontation with Iran. They are not going to stop pushing. So we need to push back hard and we need to be persistent. Call your Reps, visit them, tell them NO NO NO strike on Iran.

My father told me that we couldn’t beat people who were fightin’ on their own soil, in their own methods and for their own history…Jesus Christ, these are the same fuckers who gave us the Civil War, Krupp artillery, Hiroshima, Korea, Vietnam and the beat goes on and on and…we have no choice in this one, we either thow off the oligarchy and the war profiteers who are turnin’ the world into a steamin pile of toxic waste or we reach the end of history…I gotta believe that God and the Chinese won’t let us go much further.
