I’m late to this, but thanks to Hubris Sonic I see this video from an Iraqi reporter who went home to Baghdad for the Guardian. Going to places he says no foreign journalist could, he finds neither security nor reconciliation, but instead walled ghettos keeping a lid on Baghdad’s rolling boil. ("Gated Communities," don’t you know.) Judging by both the add-date on the YouTube upload and the death toll from a bombing he mentions, it appears this trip took place in March 2008 — a year after I saw some of these walls being constructed.
