Just in case you missed David’s post and John’s farewell, one of the best bloggers in the game, my friend Lindsay Beyerstein, is joining the FDL camp over at Campaign Silo. Lindsay is another agent in the conspiracy of philosophystudent bloggers currently running amok on the internet. Her work deserves a very wide audience, and so naturally I’m thrilled she’ll be here. Expect lots of crossposting.

This seems like an appropriate place to note a link between philosophy and punk rock — Lindsay wrote a thesis on philosopher W.V.O. Quine, who was the uncle of legendary (and regrettably late) guitarist Robert Quine, of Richard Hell & the Voidoids fame.
For anyone not familiar with the latter Quine, here he is with Lou Reed, teaching a joint course on guitar pyrotechnics before a stadium crowd in Italy in 1983:
Some Kinda Love, seguing into Sister Ray
(In case you can’t tell, Lou’s is the thick distorted guitar, Quine’s the jangly fractured one. This performance is on Reed’s “Live in Italy” album.)
Now I’ll never get anything done!
My reaction exactly, Mommybrain!
Welcome, Lindsay — I am so tickled you are here. Big fan of yours.
