A quick Democratic convention story while I wait for my Thai food to arrive. So I saw arena-rock star Kanye West play at the Ecdo Center on Wednesday for a crowd of about 2,000. In other words, if you were a very special friend of the RIAA or the One Campaign — or you were me! — you got to see one of the most innovative talents in the music industry play a club show. Of course, I’m one of Ye’s two favorite bloggers, so this is old hand to me. But you’re very impressed!
An open bar and free food kept us going until RIAA/One spokesmen and, of all people, Tom Daschle (his wife, I think, is an RIAA lobbyist) came out to talk to us about malaria eradication. Surprisingly little mention of the Obama campaign. Daschle, now that he’s not in the senate, wears Eurotrashy red-rimmed glasses.
Kanye came out at 12:30 and did an hourlong encoreless set of pure hits. "Stronger" went right into "Jesus Walks" went right into (if I recall) "Flashing Lights." He gave us previews of music that he said he wrote just days before, which consisted of him singing about heartache and very little rapping. Rather than me telling you about all this, why don’t you watch a highlight of the show? Here’s Kanye bringing out Jamie Foxx to do "Golddigger."

You couldn’t call a brutha about this show?
hmmmm, guess I’m not as good in with the One Campaign as figgered. A failure at schmoozing yet again.
