I don’t know what I can add to the Gustav coverage but a prayer for the Gulf Coast. CNN, a second ago, upgraded it from category 2 to category 3. In my unsuccessful quest to post the Bush/McCain/Katrina birthday-cake photo, I came across this great DK post from June on TPM.

Update: It’s a cat-2 again. CNN is reporting that the Industrial Canal levee is the dangerous one: a massive amount of water is packed in the Canal and no one seems to believe the levee can hold. Part of the levee is reportedly breached; much water is overtopping it. The lower 9th ward, as of 11:45 EST, is apparently flooding. People are saying on CNN it’s not worse than Katrina but that can’t really be called a comfort.
