Good Morning! My name is Joy and I am thrilled to be joining Spencer’s platoon of guest bloggers.
I am originally from the lovely town of Cape Elizabeth, Maine (the best place on earth) and currently reside in San Francisco (complete with all of its “values”). Usually, if a little inconsistently, I write on my little tumblr, here; the content of my posts are usually a hybrid of Blair Waldorf and Amy Gardner. That’s a fancy way to say I’ll be yelling about choice and feminism, talking about fashion and dropping Jewish catch phrases.
As Spencer noted last night, he and I have never actually met in real life. And while we are different as different can be (he is all punk rock and I am kind of a WASP), our internet love for each other is deep and true.
So, be honest, right about now you’re thinking, “References to Gossip Girl? This is someone he has never actually met? Geeze, Spencer vetted this guest blogger about as well as McCain vetted his VP.” Never fear, dear Attackermans! I promise that while my content will be different than Spence’s, it should at least make you laugh.
Before we get too deep into our internet love for each other, let me get a little bit of business out of the way. Everything I guest-write here is reflective of my own feelings and views and not the views of my employer or their clients. Heck, I’m not even sure if my future self will agree with my present self.
As the Republican Convention looms on (with their oh-so-vomit-inducing fashion accessories “Hottest VP from the coolest state;” and “Hoosiers are voting for the babe” buttons), Gossip Girl comes back into full swing and Sarah Palin learns what a VP does all day, I am sure we’ll have lots of things to talk about. But until my next post, let me suggest that you read Gloria Steinem’s piece in today’s LA Times, The AP story that clarifies the facts of Sarah Palin’s speech and do a little research about all of the good work community organizers do. Because, let me tell you, they are a hell of a lot more impressive than a half-term Governor from Alaska.
Lot of Love,
Joy
