Where I’m writing from, the great state of Massachusetts, in addition to the boiler plate bad financial news of the last week, we also have some updated poverty data.

Turns out that 4,000 more children are living in poverty in Mass. than were in 2006, the last time numbers were compiled. That’s 182,000 children total, or—a full 13 % of everyone under 18. And here we were thinking that Fannie and Freddie and Lehman and AIG, were enough for the week.
