We need someone to eulogize the struggle of the lowest wrung of society, to humanize their plight the way Steinbeck did with the Joad family. This artistic deficit is in sharp refrain today because—along with the all the other Great Depression parallels of the last week—the AP is reporting that tent cities are sprouting up all over the country in greater prevalence than we’ve seen in decades.

Wow … that’s actually a great idea.
If someone can find a publisher willing to give me a small advance (say, $10K) so I can quite my paying writing gig for a few months, I’m all over it.
(Seriously, though, it’s a terrific idea at which I may have to take a shot … advance or not. It’s most definitely needed.)
Um … okay … how’s about I don’t leave my day job until I learn how to spell the word “quit” correctly.
