I didn’t watch till the end of Sox-Angels game 4. First the TiVo started recording Mad Men, and for the life of me I couldn’t figure out how to switch the channels back without deleting the recording, so in the interest of not infuriating my roommates I watched a pretty great Mad Men episode before flipping back during the eighth inning. Then I got tired and went to bed after the ninth.

But a few things about the game: first, the Angels didn’t return to the classic Mike Scioscia offense of relentless run manufacturing — I forget when they put on the hit and run, but it was when the game was knotted at 3-all and it nearly led to a double play — and that’s why Boston will win the series. Against Beckett you can understand why they stranded so many baserunners. But against… Manny Delcarmen? Second, did you see Boston make any mistakes last night? Because I didn’t, and I truly don’t want them to advance. (There, admittedly, is a part of me that wants the opportunity to use This Is Boston, Not LA in a headline. But it’s not worth it. I had my opportunity in last year’s NBA finals and didn’t.) Third, Amanda was at the game somehow and that was pretty rad.

Last thing: in this CHB (can I use that term? As a Yankee fan?) piece, it says last night seated the largest Fenway crowd since World War II. And that meant… 39,067 people. And with practically no foul territory! I’ve been to Fenway once but didn’t know the place was so small. And this is for a team that’s won two championships in four years, and expanded its fan base across the country! No wonder tickets are impossibly expensive. Build an addition or something.
