Bill Kristol’s ideas for the McCain campaign:
Then McCain and Palin can spend the final week speaking for themselves. They should throw themselves open full time to the media. Could the press coverage get worse? Next Sunday, McCain and Palin could divide up the talk shows. Sarah Palin live! Lots of people would tune in.
What about Barack Obama’s?
RALEIGH— Tomorrow, members of the cast of the Peabody Award-winning drama series, The Wire will attend a Backyard Brunch for Barack in Raleigh. Seven of the show’s cast members will visit the Tarheel State in support of the change Barack Obama will bring across the country and in North Carolina.
Chad Coleman who plays Dennis "Cutty" Wise, Deidre Lovejoy who plays Rhonda Pearlman, Jamie Hector who plays Marlo Stanfield, Clarke Peters who plays Detective Lester Freamon, Sonja Sohn who plays Detective Shakima "Kima" Greggs, Seth Gilliam who plays Sergeant Ellis Carver, and Gbenga Akinnagbe who plays Chris Partlow will all appear at the backyard brunch on Sunday.
On Monday, Chad Coleman, Deidre Lovejoy, and Jamie Hector will visit UNC Chapel Hill and Duke University to encourage students to vote early. Early voting in North Carolina started October 16 and November 1 is the last day voters may take advantage of early voting.
This is the greatest campaign in history.

This is a comment on the previous post – for some reason it won’t accept my login on that page. Who knows. Anyway, an idea: a friend and I were wondering if the candidates’ kids in Iraq currently have special protection or are limited in what they’re doing. And what will happen with the military kids of whoever wins? What affect will that have on the war? I know there’s the whole “Pres or VP’s kids being there shows they’re personally involved” thing, but how will it affect the actual military situation/tactics? (We were thinking about Prince Harry as a sort of precedent – will this be similar or different?)
Re: The Wire
This show’s helped give us the vocabulary we need to talk about how modern institutions work, so I’m glad Obama is a viewer of it. (He’s said so in the past.)
One small example: Remember how Carcetti made those promises to the police about raises and such, but then got blindsided by a 55 million dollar shortfall in the schools budget? Imagine how our next President will get hit with similar stuff, since the current Administration is so secretive.
That’s a good thought. It is exactly why I am prepared for Obama, if elected, to get nailed from all vantage points on what he promised versus what he can accomplish. It’s certain he will disappoint. The way to deal with that, imo, is as much transparency as prudently possible. Part of the problem with the Bush Administration is that they were just doing shit without letting people know what was up. That, and the lying. But if Obama keeps up his habit of getting the information to the populace — like the myriad e-mails I get — then people may disagree, but they won’t be cold cocked, to turn a phrase.
Da McCain campaign already bagged up.
Wasn’t Omar. Wasn’t Marlo. Wasn’t even the little kid who tried to light the cat on fire.
He did his own self in. Sheeeeeit.
