What the fuck, C.C.? Does $140 million over six years not buy what it used to? L.A.’s fine, I suppose, if you like assholes. New York City, as the men sang, really has it all.
This is a slap in the face for the Yankees. It’s fucking embarrassing to be left in Las Vegas, dick in hand, while Sabathia says he’ll think the offer over. What’s to think about? Being richer than God while becoming the ace for the most storied franchise in the history of sports? To never again pay for a meal in the best restaurant city on earth? The Mets are walking out of the winter meetings with one of the best closers in the game. Can this rejection really be happening?

The Giants are gonna shock everyone and nab C.C. Mark my words.
He and Lincecum will make an excellent 1-2 punch.
I lived in NYC for 10 years and I still bleed black and orange.
1. Irrational hatred of L.A.? Ookaay, Alvie.
2. This isn’t hard to understand. It’s the Gold Rush.
1. CC doesn’t want to play in SF. He’s on record as saying he doesn’t want to mix business with personal, and how it’s tough enough to go back to the Bay for three days and be able to focus on pitching. Plus, the Giants can’t afford him.
2. I fucking hate Yankee fans. OMG, you designate a player for elevation to the Bronx and he doesn’t immediately jump to sign your contract? How dare he! Fuuuuck you. You’re still gonna get him anyway.
3. Nylund – Do you have an old NY Giants hat? Cause if I were you, I’d rock that shit all day.
The problem with your argument is the premise that playing for the Yankees is somehow a greater privilege than playing for any other team.
Take a deep breath, Spence. C.C. is an actual grown-up and has done nothing rant-worthy; offered insult neither by word or deed.
The Mets didn’t get any bargain.
Last word was that Cashman is on the way to California to meet with Sabathia for the third straight day.
Sitting, watching Conan is deadass boring.
You can spin this another way, Spencer: this is that moment in the boxing/samurai movie where the guy’s been KO’d/cut in half and just hasn’t realized it yet. I’m a Yankees fan and I understand C.C. testing the market. He can test all he wants. Eventually he’ll realize that nobody’s going to pay him more, so it boils down to whether he wants NYC or not. If he doesn’t, well, bully for him. I’m pretty sure we’ll see him in pinstripes come next spring.
For the record, brian242, playing for the Bombers gives you a shot at history. Not many teams can offer that. Whether that’s a privilege or a burden depends on your temperament and tolerance for the NY media circus, I guess.
What do you mean by “shot at history?” Individually, Sabathia can achieve his goals on any team. Team-wise, any team has a shot at the World Series. Buying a World Series isn’t possible.
There’s no privilege or honor in being a Yankee. You and Boston fans are so alike.
Yes, because the Dodger franchise has absolutely no history to it…
Just a few little known has beens like Sandy Kofaux and Jackie Robinson.
Well, it looks as though they have got him. You knew the Yankees would be back in some form and would sign some starter or other. At least Derek Lowe did not commit treason.
Yes, this is not a happy day. But you have to play the season.
Well, young man? Are you gonna apologize to Mr. Sabathia?
