My friend Richard Smith at VetVoice — a/k/a RockRichard — has a great catch from George W. Bush’s exit interview with ABC’s Martha Raddatz after getting shoes thrown at him in Baghdad. One of the things that Muntader al-Zaidi, a 28-year Iraqi journalist, yelled at the disgraced outgoing president as he threw his shoes in disrespect was "This is from the widows, the orphans and those killed in Iraq." And here’s a perfect example of why. Look at what Bush tells Raddatz about Al Qaeda in Iraq:
Bush: This [Iraq] is where Al Qaeda was hoping to take …
Raddatz: But not until after the U.S. invaded.
Bush: Yeah, that’s right. So what?
As they used to say way way back in 2001, that’s my Bush. There’s two so-whats here. The first is the widows, the orphans and those killed in Iraq, just as al-Zaidi said, by a jihadist organization that didn’t exist until George Bush made a miscalculation of epic proportions. The second is that Bush just admitted there was no Al Qaeda presence in Iraq before the invasion, despite endless statements before the war that — just to take one example – in "the war on terror, you can’t distinguish between al Qaeda and Saddam when you talk about the war on terror." Remember this line from the 2003 State of the Union?
Evidence from intelligence sources, secret communications, and statements by people now in custody reveal that Saddam Hussein aids and protects terrorists, including members of al Qaeda.
I only regret that I will never get to throw my own shoes at this man.

Thanks to Muntadar al Zaida “the shoe guy”. Many of us in this country want more than shoes thrown at this administration. Let’s start with the law.
“Une roi, une loi, une foi” -Louis XIV ;-P.
The prime directive of absolutism. King’s aren’t supposed to be accountable, didn’t ya know?
Chimpy also said “What’s his beef?”
His beef is that you killed a million of his people, you smirking fratboy.
Send him to the Hague.
The next best thing ……….
Mail a shoe to the White house
The White House
1600 Pennsylvania Avenue NW
Washington, DC 20500
Is this where the shoe-in takes place?
Do they have to be size 10?
Blogger suggests we mail old shoes to bush:
http://www.talkingpointsmemo.c…..w-hero.php
I have some size 10 old boots I would like to throw at the bastard!
When Shrub was anointed I told the wife we were in trouble… Dam I just didn’t realize just how much this jerk could fuckup the country and the world. The Country and the World are a whole lot worse because of this War Criminals reign!
Frog march the prick to the Hague for his and his administrations War Crimes!
Q: Did you used to post on BeliefNet?
I hope this site will be the strong, loud voice for the investigation, accountability, etc etc etc. Thank you for the big chunk of truth here; please keep it up. This is the perfect place to be heard.
Unfortunately the shoes were just ordinary shoes like what many people wear on their feet. Now if only they had been those special shoes that Richard What’s his name was wearing on the airplane, maybe it would have had a happier ending.
Better idea. Send them to the new residence in Dallas. I don’t know the address, but bush would “know” the price of shame if he had to manage all those packages without a White House staff!
Weapons of Bass Distraction.
We really need a “Shoe Thrower Defense Fund” This guy needs to know he has our support and appreciation
If he is still breathing, I hereby nominate Muntadar al Zaida to be the next governor of Illinois.
i second that. how to do it?
That would leave a skid mark, which seems appropriate in light of the intended target.
George W. Bush, that pathetic little shell of a man, who calls himself “President” has said “so what” countless times over the last eight years: to the veterans of his splendid little wars (see Walter Reed), to the people of New Orleans (see Katrina), to Valerie Palme and Joe Wilson (see Scooter Libby), and to the American people (see searching behind the drapes and under the desk in the Oval Office for the WMDs).
Yes, I doubt that we’ll ever get to throw shoes at Bush but I do wish that more American journalists would. At least Stephen Colbert, when he had the chance to throw shoe after shoe at Bush, took the opportunity.
It was posted online…in the Dallas News, I think. Starts with a D…fill the cul de sac.
Checking out the military sites I found lots of comments on this. Most were on the subject of why on earth anyone in Iraq would be mad at the US. We “liberated them”-of course the majority of the arab world believes that we invaded(xristian crusaders) and the real truth of the matter is that they are far worse off today than they were before the US “invaded”. Womans rights-before, a secular country where women were equal to men. Now-religious nuts on the sunni and shia sides are out to reenslave women(and they are doing it)
Medical care-before, it was there when needed. Now-nothing, zero zip nada
Electric/ clean water- before-it existed. Now- it doesn’t.
I can fully understand why most Iraqis are now looking back at Saddam as the lesser of 2 evils.
It would be interesting if people waved or shook their shoes at Bush on Inauguration Day, but suspect the Secret Service will be in direct opposition to TSA and will force everyone to keep their shoes on.
i would suggest old dirty sneakers fresh with dog shit.
boots on the ground; shoes in the air
What a brave dude. Hope he stays alive. One would think the guards in whatever prison he is in would know the whole world is watching and appreciative of what this guy did
If you use a stiletto you can get some boomerang action going and get your shoes back. So says Eddie Murphy.
No, Reverend, I’ve never been on BeliefNet. I’ll go check it out, but I have to warn you that I’m a respectful devout atheist.
I marvel that nobody at a Bush event had ever thought to throw their shoe at him before. I wonder how many people are out there regretting their opportunity.
The shoe thrower is probably in some former Soviet block country being tortured right now!
Shoe are weapons of mass destruction !
sorry, this was not a “miscalculation” bush was informed in no uncertain terms what the exact results would be if he attacked Iraq
clarke was right, the cia was right, and all inteligence was correct, bush would be helping al-qaeda if he attacked Iraq
Shoo Fly, Don’t Bother Me
How long until that shoo fly song is used a musical backdrop for shoe fly video? Oh, the comedy.
i wonder if there is a human rights org in iraq that would be willing to help him. anyone know of any?
How about these
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BIEnnzsBJ-Q
fly’s in the butter, Maliki, shoe fly shoe
actually, apparently’s he’s being tortured right in Iraq. No need for any extraordinary renditions here.
Telegraph UK on the poor guy’s fate:

Me likes.
My Christmas list:
Throw Your Shoe at Bush for Wii
the guy had pretty good aim actually. turns out he was coached by Don Shula.
put on your sailin’ shoes
Thanks for the link. Another article also states that thousands of Irakis are demanding his release, are burning US flags in protest and declaring yesterday as “International Shoe Day”!
Honestly, I wish that there was something that I could do personally to help the guy. How brave do you have to be to throw your shoe at Bush knowing what will likely happen to you after?
Ed Sullivan: “And tonight folks, we have a really big shoe”:
Senor Wences, aka the Bush/Maliki act
What I’d give to see thousands upon thousands of americans throw a shoe on the White House lawn.
Shoe Bert’s
unfinishedunlaced symphony. The problem is that Bush would never see them and probably wouldn’t hear about them either. I would like to dump thousands of shoes at the DNC headquarters – maybe that would get their attention.
Just wrote to Code Pink asking them to start a “SHOE THROWER’S DEFENSE FUND” Please contact them or anyone other group that would have the where with all to get such a fund started. This man needs to know that he has our support, admiration and appreciation
Please contact Code Pink or anyone else that could pull this off
http://www.codepink4peace.org/contactus.php
LOL.
they shoe torsos, don’t they?
thank you leen.
perfect!
Thanks…someone there with a very similar “name”. Loved to call W Caligula.
Oh, sandals…
I think if someone were to kill Bush I don’t think the American people would allow him to be prosecuted. I just can’t see a court convicting the man. BUt think people….Clinton has done this kind of stuff and more and Clinton makes $200,000 to give a speech. George Bush will be given $200,000 to give speeches. Can you imagine a University giving George Bush $200,000 to give a speech? What could he say? What could this man say to anyone worth paying him?
