Via Ezra Klein, Marvel has found a way to top May 2008, its premiere of Iron Man. Next May Marvel Studios will release the long-awaited Wolverine movie. Judging from the trailer, they’re doing the whole Little-Lord-Fauntleroy-becomes-Wolverine storyline, and snaking through the whole emm-effing history of the X-Men.
You caught that, right? A diamonded-up Emma Frost? A possible Storm origin story? Liev Schreiber — whom a dear dear friend of mine once stalked in the hope that he’d impregnate her — as Young Sabretooth? OMFGambit? Rumor has it that we’re getting Ryan Reynolds (ugh) as Deadpool as well.
If I was getting my way with the script for a potential Wolverine sequel, I’d strongly encourage the usage of Ultimate Cable, the Future-Wolverine. He’s the best he is at what he does.

Um, hate to break it to you, but this isn’t Marvel. The only X-Men thing Marvel has the rights to is the cartoon that is coming out soon or came out this fall. This is all Fox, as Fox has the X-Men movie rights. Basically they’re going to do everything they can before they lose their rights, and Marvel gets them back. Now I don’t know who the writers are behind this film, but it feels a bit like they’re taking every character they can think of and throwing them up against a wall to see what might stick-almost like what Ratner did with X3.
So yeah, might be best to not get your hopes too high.
It says Marvel Studios on the thing. I’m confused.
Mmm-hmm. Hugh Jackman. Yum.
I like the redden toof, guv’
Well, the X-Men movies all had a Marvel Studios opening, thought the creative control was all with Fox. For Iron Man, Hulk, and Punisher War Zone, Marvel Studios is in creative control of the product. That’s why they all have a different major studio distributor.
So Marvel Studios is a production company involved, but they’re not in control of it.
