Lord knows I had my disagreements with Glenn Greenwald over the John Brennan affair. But this extremely obnoxious comment from a nameless Obama “transition observer” on the episode to the Washington Post’s Al Kamen is repugnant:
The episode bothered a lot of Brennan fans in the Obama operation, where he still heads the CIA transition team. “If we’re afraid of bloggers,” one transition observer quipped, “how can we take on al-Qaeda?” Various names have popped up since for the job, including Washington lawyer and former agency general counsel Jeff Smith.
Somehow this fool doesn’t realize that by refusing to attach his name to this crap he’s demonstrating the sort of cowardice he’s critiquing. No one, by contrast, could ever call Glenn a coward. Compared to him bin Laden is a pussy.

Damn, them bloggers must be getting all powerful to provoke responses like this. I guess pretty soon then, we’ll see how the bloggers pushed Obama and Co into Universal Single Payer Health Care, stopping funding for all the unneeded Pentagon programs, revisions to FISA that get the government out of spying on US citizens, living wages for workers, EFCA, and all the other librul blogger positions.
Oh right. Never Mind
Dakine, don’t forget we’re gonna turn the country green instead of red (from the blood the previous administration caused to be spilled), and we’re saving the whales and the polar bears and many other species! What a wonderful world it will be!
And Spencer, a special congrats to you for serving as a judge for the Golden Dukes! Darn, I gather I’m not allowed to try to influence your choices, so I’ll just say: Judge carefully, now!
beyond weak
“If we’re afraid of bloggers,” one transition observer quipped, “how can we take on al-Qaeda?”
You should be afraid of us. Very afraid. We have a vast left wing echo chamber, the toobez, and you get instant feedback on your actions.
And we are not slow to call an action smart, stupid, hurtful, or insane.
It’s call “accountability”. Yes, yes we know its a new concept to “The Village”, get used to it. We like it.
And, of course, it is WaPo policy when using anonymous sources to indicate the reason why the source’s name isn’t used. I see no explanation for the non-attribution here.
I never understood why Brennan was in the running to head the CIA anyway; aren’t transition staffers ineligible by Obama’s own rules to head the agency they are transitioning?
“transition observer”
Man.. does that sound like another term for “troll” or what?
Well, I think that historically there was something called a Cheney exception.
Exactly, we’re all “transition observers” aren’t we?
These guys still want to do business as usual. They just hate it though that bloggers often catch them in the act and name names. Takes all the fun out of it being a crook if people know you are a crook.
Obama listen to Bloggers nope we wish. Chances are we are getting the blame. Something in this guy’s record is the real reason he is out Obama is worried that it might come out after he hires him.
No one was around to say that John (sob) was Ok and wasn’t a Bushie.
http://washingtonindependent.c…..withdrawal
Sounds like the CIA is still an old boys network where people still rely on a good word being put in rather than action.
After all where was the CIA when Bush was lying about WMD? By staying quiet they supported Bush.
The CIA is worried about Obama having their back?
Didn’t the entire CIA stay silent when Valerie Palme was outed? By the Bush Administration and Darth in Particular?
I think this Source is a Loyal Bushie and thats why he or she does not want to be named!
Equating bloggers with al Qaeda is a very ominous sign. Right along with Obama’s “unity” theme. It means that if you don’t agree with him, he’ll try to destroy you. Just as much an authoritarian as W. Who’s Obama’s Rove?
?
By getting the troops in Iraq a map of Pakistan? Bush and the CIA have let Ossama live and now they are giving us Gruff for their Failure’s?
Pissed off, ‘Transition Observers’… With Pat Robertson’s seal of approval, WTF…?
if this guy brennan is so weak that he has to blame us there is somethin wrong. what is it that we don’t know?
It does show them up they think they are so slick with the lies. But even kids with Google are catching them now:)
Brennan probably is dirty and we don’t know why yet. But Obama expects us to find out soon I guess that some bit of news is coming.
Perhaps the source was terrified the bright lights of justice would shine down upon him or her.
And now to hijack a perfectly good thread. Meteor Blades put a post up earlier about the voices raised up against the Bush Administration’s torture policy. There were a good number of names on the list. Spencer Ackerman wasn’t listed. I found that very lacking. Of course I wasn’t listed, but I write under a dozen pseudonyms (and I will never make the mistake of revealing my name [neither would any of you, if you knew]).
It did bother me Meteor Blades didn’t mention the Ack-oop.
Do we claim victory for the fall of Brennan now?
Villagers and CIA torture apologists are now saying that Brennan was cricitized for his work during the Bush Administration, which wasn’t Glenn’s objection at all. Glenn simply noted what Brennan had said, on the record, in the media, about torture and rendition.
Apparently, holding up someone’s words and making him accountable for them is tantamount to being al Qaida.
I wonder if it will take the CIA as long to capture Greenwald as it’s taken them to find OBL.
Thats the problem with big popular movements its so hard to keep track of everyone:)
Meteor Blades does neglect quite a few heroes, but, it is an excellent read…! Mahalo, LD!
What they found him! for rea!l…as opposed to somewhere in Pakistan?
i don’t. he has done himself in, i suspect. there are some who are able to look back at themselves with a political critical eye. it is called self preservation. maybe he has it.
more Spencer upstairs
and looseheadprop!
It’s sad that Obama’s team encourages more Congressional oversight committees to root out the evils of Shrub’s Maladministration… Why do we need to
Dayam… I didn’t close my link… Rehash the voluminous Congressional findings already on the books…! Prosecute the bastards already with what’s been disclosed to date… Definitely enough to put them on trial in The Hague already…!
Actually they should be more worried about bloggers than Al Qaida…simply because bloggers are gonna have a vastly greater POSITIVE impact.
As the old saying goes “The blog is mightier than the bomb”.
Dood, It ain’t for nothing that we affectionately call him, “Glenzilla.”
I wasn’t offended.
