I guess Marty isn’t a fan of Ezra, Michael and you. /understatement

The comments at TNR/Marty’s column were sort of spit-stained from Marty’s legion.

I first read TNR in the mid-60’s and then dropped out for some decades before returning as a subscriber – to my regret, although their are some fine writers with progressie thoughts there. But not, obviously Marty and Jamie Kircheck (who has apparently been promoted from licking Marty’s ass twice daily to Assistant Editor – which makes one wonder if the taste of Marty’s butt stil get refreshed often enough for his taste).

Maybe the CanWest righties will get tired of a loser publication in this economic turndown and return TNR to liberal respectability by firing Marty and his hangers on. In the meantime, I’ve got to figure out how to stop the automatic renewal by credit card that they sign you up for without advance notice.

Anyway, hang in there and don’t let them drag you into their excrement den – although I’m not sure whether they eat it or smoke it.

You may have to cancel the credit card.

I do mean to criticize Martin Peretz which is why I would use the word “witless.”

“Juicebox Mafia”? At least that is kind of clever. That is unless it has some negative connotation of which I am not aware.

Peretz’s goals are the same as Hamas. They both want to kill Palestinians – Hamas because it gives them power, Peretz because it gives him boners. There can be no engagement with the pro-Hamas wing of American jewery. They cannot be reasoned with, only destroyed.

Noah Pollak, wades into the comments on his original “juicebox mafia” post and writes:

credit for “juicebox mafia” goes to my good friend Eli Lake. He is brilliant at coining such phrases. And it means exactly what you said it means, except that FireDogLake and the American Prospect are not “prestige opinion journals.” The phrase mostly speaks about immaturity, ignorance, and parochialism. These guys are coffee-shop pundits.

I loved the bit about “immaturity, ignorance, and parochialism” because it almost exemplifies chutzpah for Noah Pollak to throw charges of immaturity, ignorance and parochialism at someone else. On the other hand I have never understood why people give Eli Lake the time of day. He has never struck me as being much better than Martin Peretz.
