I guess it’s a stretch to call Guantanamo racist, but in the spirit of Amebix reforming and playing some show dates in the U.S. later this month, I’m in a crusty kind of mood, and Destroy’s "Burn This Racist System Down" is a killer song that’s on my mind when I read the Wall Street Journal’s follow-up piece about how Obama’s going to issue an executive order "within his first week in office" to shutter the prison. It’ll take some time to actually close the place, but the order itself is an extremely significant return to basic sanity and decency.
I promise never to write this again, but it’s a shame that Oz isn’t on the air anymore, because I’d like to see an episode where Khalid Shaikh Mohammed comes to Em City and starts dealing drugs with Adebisi.

What’s that, like 4 updates on GTMO being closed now ?
Still zero interest in asking the question, let alone seeking an answer on Baghram or any of the other prisons where most detainees are actually held in none of the relative protections that GTMO offers compared to the rest ?
I really a think a Keep Guantanamo Open campaign is in order.
After all, if you’ve killed more that 150 of these detainees, surely shutting down the one prison where prisoners haven’t been tortured to deaths is the wrong idea.
If practically all of them are held in secret, shutting the one prison where most detainees are identified and aren’t completely denied access with the outside world is the wrong idea.
Unless of course the photo op goes really well.
