If Bush was a friend of Israel, it needs more enemies.

Look at his accomplishments:

- He ended the Iran/Iraq standoff, which kept both countries out of direct attacks on Israel. Now they are allies in the effort.
- Furthermore, the war has made Iran the dominant power in the region.
- His push for “Arab democracy” in spite of all the warnings, led to Hamas control of Gaza.
- He has totally degraded any American interest in the region. The Arab governments might have tolerated the US “tilt” towards Israel, but Bush’s “crusade” against “terrorists” and “Islamofascists” left no doubt about his feeling toward them. (Poppy maintained better relationships.)
-He has sapped our military to the point that they may not be able to intervene in the even of another significant conflict.

Some friend!

Yep.

The arteries have hardened, and now we’re seeing the effects of generational hatred.

Both sides wrapping themselves in a cozy conventional wisdom that whispers seductively “If we can just hurt them bad enough, they’ll relent and I’ll get what I want”.

The perfect, symmetrical logic of an ideologically - driven eternal war mindset.

Sadly, at this point, it will almost certainly take a new generation of participants to see that the current status quo is precisely calibrated to deliver only endless conflict…
