Yes, here’s what you should do for people convicted of withholding information from Congress and who demonstrate an impressive track record of obstructing Middle East peace: give them legitimacy-conferring positions at the Council on Foreign Relations. I know your comment is meant as a sly parody of the blood libel, as well as a way of pointing out that Abrams does indeed have abundant blood on his hands. But any nuance will be lost on those who would use your comment as “evidence” of anti-Semitism in progressive blogs.
I would recommend that you ask the mods to take it down. It ain’t fair, but it ain’t worth it.
Meanwhile, Spencer, I think you mean “are the establishment,” not “aren’t.” And thanks for the nauseating heads-up. Abrams should be behind bars, and for a lot more than lying to Congress.
I guess Scooter Libby wasn’t available . . . or perhaps he will be the Council on Foreign Relations’ “next high-profile signing”.
If this is what passes for the “liberal Eastern Establishment” these days, I shudder to think what “elite opinion” looks like in the “American Heartland”.
