Why should it be an odd concern?

Of course i’m glad that he’ll be removing troops. From what i understand though, troops in Iraq will not have standard “embassy” duty as you imply. They will quite frankly still be in a warzone and trying to protect the emblazoned figure of Western arrogance (ie the Green Zone).

No, i’m not afraid that “embassy troops will annex shit on the weekends” and yes i care about other embassy “troops” around the world. WTF is that all about? I care about ALL of the troops which is why i’m questioning how many will be left to “protect our interests”.

I’m also quite aware of the political parsing of dialogue and how often enough i hear something i think will be good gets battered down and diminished to the point that it’s meaningless and ineffectual. I’m sure our President has every good intention of fulfilling his promises. I do hope that he will be able to.

That’s an odd concern druidity.
Whatever number they task to the embassy, that’ll still be their task. It’s not like embassy troops annex shit on the weekend. Do you care about troops tasked to any other embassy around the world or not ?

Do we have any idea how many troops will be staying permanently after the “withdrawal”? Who will defend the Green Zone/America’s largest Embassy?

Until i hear that number, i still remain skeptical.

Might just have to take the Iraqi VPs word for it…

“If the Iraqi people reject the pact in the referendum … the government of Iraq will be committed, according to the law, to the result of the referendum and will convey this will to the American administration. The pact will be annulled,”

Hence the timing, the law ratifying the pact gives either country ability to dissolve it with 1 year’s notice.

There is/was supposed to be a referendum on the SOFA due by July which, if rejected, would require US forces out by June 2010. Not sure where that’s at though, or whether it was a formal part of the SOFA passing.

Now let’s see if conservatives try and portray 90 days as an abandonment of a campaign promise and proof that Obama is just like Bush.

Of course they will; along with the coming “Obama lost the Iraq War!” meme. Just like they did to the Democrats with China, Korea, Vietnam…even fookin’ Somalia!
