Well-known dirty fucking hippie Fareed Zakaria is frustrated by the puerile and superficial critiques of the Obama administration’s foreign policy made by the Washington Post‘s editorial and op-ed pages:
The problem with American foreign policy goes beyond George Bush. It includes a Washington establishment that has gotten comfortable with the exercise of American hegemony and treats compromise as treason and negotiations as appeasement. Other countries can have no legitimate interests of their own—Russian demands are by definition unacceptable. The only way to deal with countries is by issuing a series of maximalist demands. This is not foreign policy; it’s imperial policy. And it isn’t likely to work in today’s world.
Really read the whole column. It’s refreshing to see a guy with his own show on CNN take powerful editorial boards to task for not thinking foreign-policy problems through from the perspective of first principles.

Did you catch Chas Freeman today on Zakariya’s show? I thought he handled it well but personally I was hoping for a little more fire and brimstone. Still I think anyone watching has to now be asking themselves some hard questions. If you haven’t seen it there were two segments and they are up on the CNN website.

Maybe the best part was him laughing at the notion that Chuck Schumer made him quit. Burn!!!
Wow, thanks, I didn’t see it. Will watch as soon as I get a minute. Thanks again.
