Bush, in Canada, commits the best Freudian slip of all time by announcing his memoir:
"I’m going to put people in my place, so when the history of this administration is written at least there’s an authoritarian voice saying exactly what happened," Bush said.
All previous books about the Bush administration will be burned.

All previous books burned?
It doesn’t strike you as unlikely that the history of the Bush administration could be described in just one set of books?
“Put people in my place”?
“an authoritarian voice saying exactly what happened”
Dick Cheney as ghostwriter confirmed!
Bush: Epic. Fail.
Bush is going to put people in the White House I mean what other place does he have?
At least he is consistent, his instances of honesty and/or humor are always quite inadvertent.
Or does Bush mean that he is going to put other Presidents in the same position he was in on 9/11 is Bush going to arrange a terrorist attack.
Anyone else I would say that your being silly about Freud. But Bush has Daddy Issues and after McCain lost I bet those issues reappeared again.
You are from Texas, can you translate that into something the rest of us can understand!?
Digg it right here
Thank Dawg Chimpy kept his old speech writer.
Big Brother speaks.
We have always been at war with
Afghanistan IraqEurasia
Curiously, Bush arrived in Canada thinking he was on his way to Mexico.
But Bush is from Connecticut…maybe we should get Joe Lieberman to do the translation?
He thanked his hosts for welcoming him to the Holy Land…after all, his Lord and Savior died in Calgary….
Bush is just trying to say that this will be down to earth and nothing long and complicated like My Pet Goat.
Dugg.
well, give him some credit. at least it’s possible that unlike Sarah Palin, he realizes they are both in NAFTA?
I love Edit
Put people in there place, maybe? sorry I don’t speak Bush.
Anybody know how much compensation Bush is asking for speeches? I think it would be fun to make his payment incremental based on the number of coherent sentences he utters. He’d be as frantic as the time(s) the Skull ‘n’ Bones boys put him in a round room and told him to pee in the corner.
We will know that Bush is serious about writing his memoirs when we see him sharpening his crayons.
OT – Anyone know when and how the petition is going to be presented tomorrow?
i have a master’s degree in linguistics (two languages)
what did he say?!
I see his memoirs as more of a coloring book. I bet he devotes a whole section to terrorist pretzels.

Bush asks a whopping $150K for a speech. I don’t know why anybody would pay that for a speaker who can’t handle his native language.
His compensation is to not be placed under arrest.
i heard shoes were thrown
Wow, I’ll bet his asking price is half that one year from now and (hopefully) there still won’t be any takers.
I would like to see a book that provides an
authoritarianauthorative voice saying exactly what happened…on torture, rendition, Plame, Cheney’sgreat train robberyenergy policy group, weapons of mass destruction, etc. etc. etc….with a sworn transcript going straight to the Justice Department for appropriate prosecution.from janes earlier post:
A necessary component of the heeling process.
So they’re actually going to hand-deliver to the committee? I like that.
Thanks.
I heard that shoes were launched from a cannon.
That man can’t get a SINGLE sentence out correctly, can he?
Yup. Even if somebody did want to hear from history’s least popular American president, he’s priced himself right out of a job. Actually, I think it’s deliberate; this way they only have to make him pretend to be sober on rare occasions.
in the relatively conservative province of Alberta – would seem to be an ideal place for George W. Bush to give his first post-presidential speech.
But Bush was greeted by more than the 1,500 business people who paid as much as $315 to hear him speak Tuesday. Plenty of shoes were thrown as at least 100 protesters gathered and chanted “war criminal,” angry that Bush chose Calgary for his first speech after leaving the White House in January. At least two demonstrators were hauled away by police after brief skirmishes.
The footwear was tossed at an effigy of the 43rd U.S. president outside the conference center where Bush spoke at a luncheon, said Colette Lemieux of the Canadian Peace Alliance.
Some 200 protesters from across the country had gathered for the demonstration against Bush’s invasion of Iraq and rendition of terror suspects, she said in a telephone interview with AFP.
He said authoritarian. They lap it up!
Or better yet, he should be compensated by the number of sentences that make sense.
Daddy complex.
Interesting idea. He could actually end up paying to give a speech.
How are you doing, TexB?
Every parent wants their kids to outshine them. Pa Bush excelled at using broken syntax, then Junior came along and raised the bar through the stratosphere. Mission accomplished.
But wouldn’t to able to understand it unless he listened real slow.
He didn’t raise the bar, he crashed into it.
Doing well, thanks. On spring break this week.
You?
LOL Newton, LOL!
I’m doing well, thanks. And I’m doubly well tonight learning that I get to see demi soon!
Are you suggesting that you have a spring break NOT tied to Easter? Hmmmm.
Swing break is tied to South by SouthWest and the Univ of Texas break. A friend and I went to the last 2 hours of SxSW.
Blogged about it here.

Well done!
WTF is wrong with him, anyway? I guess we’ll never know… it’s like W huffed paint as a teenager and his brain cells continue to die.
Spencer, interestingly enough the article at the link you provided doesn’t contain that quote anymore…looks like Bush is getting some revisionist help from the “journalist” who wrote it, Bob Gillies and the AP. It was scrubbed from the original AP story:
http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/s…..8-06-35-58
A Google search finds it in the descriptions under the search results and a few places and even quoted, like you did, but the sources all reflect the new AP version. Here is the original still at NPR.

It can’t be that good considering so many of your readers missed it even when it’ highlighted for them.
Authoritarian instead of authoritative. LOL He got that right!
