Commentary’s Abe Greenwald doesn’t see anything wrong with forcing a detainee into a "confinement box" for an hour and allowing him to believe that he’ll be stung to death by the unspecified thing that he can’t see but that’s crawling on him. He must have read "1984" as a counterterrorism how-to manual. But still, it’s good to see there are people out there forthrightly defending torture, as it’ll come in handy when they want to lecture the rest of us on morality in warfare.

Keep a list of their name, Spencer.
What I don’t understand is why there’s no uproar over the caterpillar’s rights. Alone in a box with a violent jihadist? I shudder.
I’m a conservative, and I think torture is wrong.
Consider the Vet that called into Rush Limbaugh’s show, who denounced torture. He was still able to excerise some critical thinking skills. It’s going to take some time for Americans to come to terms with thier cognitive dissonance. Just like discovering your spouse is cheating, first you deny, then you make deals, then you ignore.. ect.. the stages are the same as the stages of death. They will accept the truth, but we’re about 4 years out. Didn’t it take 20 years for the Nuremburg Trials to begin?
We need new descriptors. Conservatism isn’t symonmymous with the “right”, and the “right” is an oxymoron in terms. NeoLiberals of the Democratic party believe in freemdom and liberty for business interests. HOw much more right can you get on that subject?
Political party positions shift over time, and the public is for the most part unaware of it.
