This has been the kind of week where very little I’ve written hasn’t been preempted by either Mark Sanford or the untimely demise of Michael Jackson. Right now it looks like Waxman-Markey is going to take up all the oxygen. Fuck, I want to see what the outcome of that’s going to be, and I commend the Tweeting of Brad Plumer and Dayo Olopade for keeping me informed all day. But here are some things you shouldn’t allow to fall through the cracks.
Eli Lake reports how The Onion Router kept/keeps internet access open for the Iranian opposition.
Adam Serwer reports how the face of marriage equity in D.C. is black.
Benjy Sarlin reports how both Michael Rubin and I can agree that it sucks for the Iranian opposition about MJ.
Noah Shachtman reports how nothing is clear about the military’s new Cyber Command except that it’s very obviously FUCKING AWESOME. Also I transcribed his Napolitano quote for him because apparently you can be a Wired reporter and not bring a voice recorder to a cabinet secretary’s press conference. #olympusdss-330
And most importantly: the Iranian regime must free journalist Iason Athanasiadis. I was privileged to have shared a meal with Iason a few months ago. The world is bearing witness.
