The fact that it’s been reported does not obligate us to put a particular value on it. I haven’t read Graham’s account, but perhaps it does suggest we do that or come too close to doing so. But even then, we’re not obligated to comply.

Next time some president puts military lives at risk for a dubious war and tries to make up for that by visiting the wounded, we can cite the example of Rumsfeld.

Hopefully you’ll have more soon but it sounds a whole lot more like equivocation. Nobody’s Magneto, if you know comics even Magneto isn’t Magneto as far as good and bad goes. It’s ridiculous for anyone to believe anyone is so black and white…..well other than Yoo…he’s frackin evil.

A fair look at someone’s life will by definition moderate whatever the popular understanding of it is, as that is inevitably shaped primarily by the most outstanding or memorable events and deeds. And those never give the full picture. There’s what people come to be understood as, and there’s what they were. It’s fine simply not to be interested in the real, full account, but there’ll always be discrepancies between it and the shorthand version.
