I’ve got to film a Bloggingheads discussion with my man Eli Lake of the Washington Times imminently, but I wanted to flag this post I put up at the Washington Independent based on a blogger conference call with Col. John Agoglia, the extremely impressive officer in charge of the Counterinsurgency Training Center-Afghanistan. I didn’t focus so much on his concerns about "COIN as a mindset" in this post, opting to go with my bit-of-news about the Afghan forces we’re relying on to hold what U.S./NATO troops clear not having much counterinsurgency training, but when DOD posts the transcript — mine kind of sucks, frankly — I want to revisit his comments, because they were blunt, crisp, sensible and bullshit-free. A friend of mine has praised Agoglia in the past but we’ve had minimal interaction; this morning I got a sense of why he holds the colonel in such high esteem.

Also, the forthcoming BHtv segment is going to be very Iraq-heavy. Just saying from before
