Zack Roth wins the internet today by digging the latest U.S. Attorney disclosures and finding this January 2007 email from Sara Taylor:
Prior is going after Griffin. He’s made this his cause…. We need to find some folks to defend Tim and his credentials, not to mention our policy. Your thoughts? Rich Lowry offered to help Tim
And then? What did Taylor say? Zack, play that shit!
The best part? Taylor went on to ask: "Anyone better?"
Or, in other words, Sara Taylor said it wasn’t tricking if she’s got it.
National Review has now forfeited the right to criticize the journalistic ethics of anyone for as long as Lowry stays affiliated. There’s some hoes in that house.

Starbursts!
NatRev are the people who “discovered” Sarah Palin.
They gave up any pretense of journalism when they foisted that ignoramus on the American people.
You are dissing one of the premiere political thinkers of our time in Rich Lowry He is the logical and correct successor to William F. Buckley…
Now THAT’S some right-on writin’.
Just TEARIN it up.
Bring it, son!
mikey
Yeah, but did Buckley see starbursts when he gazed upon Maggie Thatcher?
This is exceptionally retarded, Spencer. Rich Lowry is the editor of a conservative opinion magazine. You may not know this, but conservatives tend to like Republican administrations. Since Rich is a partisan, he offers to “help out” a Republican he feels has been wrongly accused. Do you not think this sort of thing goes on between say the American Prospect and the Obama White House? Please.
NatRev has journalistic ethics? Hadn’t noticed. Most unfortunate that it’s commonplace for media to pick a side and back it with unquestioning support. NatRev is not even the worst of it.
WTF did Bill Buckley ever do that would cause you to smear him to that extent?
I am shocked, shocked that a writer for Moonie Washington Times doesn’t understand journalistic ethics! To be fair, though, your paper has done great work on America’s first Muslim president.
But seriously, offering a friendly forum for an allied administration to get out its message is questionable, if not unusual. Offering to help cover up the criminal purge of uncooperative US Attorneys (you know, the few who put their jobs ahead of the GOP) is reprehensible. How is this different than offering to help the Nixon administration deflect questions over Watergate?
