Woman-beating piece of shit Chris Brown has a new song that I won’t embed — I found it through Maura Johnston, so you should too, if you’re so inclined — in which he rips off Kanye West’s pre-AutoTune vocal style and then urges young ladies to "follow him like Twitter." Chris: you follow people on Twitter. You don’t follow Twitter itself. Now go back to the end of your career, you woman-beating piece of shit.

As someone who listens to quite a bit of music made by questionable people (fascists make good black metal and some of my favorite rappers have sold crack), I’m a big fan of separating the art from the artist. That said, I appreciate that Chris Brown is such an easy target. His music sucks in new and interesting ways that reflect just what an asshole he is.
I appreciate the distinction, and your point, very well. Love the novels of Celine; love the first Burzum album; etc.
At some point, I realized that no Russian author I had ever read wasn’t horrendously authoritarian. And you can’t really get around the mysogyny in Gabreil Garcia Marquez. Occassionaly, you get lucky, and, like Mayhem before Chris Brown, they just start to suck.
