I agree with Michael Goldfarb:

“J Street should stop whining,” he told The Cable, “They got their ‘pro-peace’ buddies in the White House to help them stop the bleeding — but it won’t work.”

I tend not to allow players on the field to pose as refs, but leave that aside. Goldfarb is right about this, but let me say it from a friendly perspective. J Street can’t be taken seriously when it sends around messages like this:

In a classic “Swift Boat” move, the Weekly Standard magazine – dubbed the “neocon bible” by The Economist - launched an attack on our conference and the whole pro-Israel, pro-peace movement.

They’re working the phones – calling the offices of every one of the 150-plus members of Congress on our Gala’s Honorary Host Committee to frighten them away from associating with J Street. The most infuriating part is that their thuggish smear tactics are having an impact — already 5 members of Congress have pulled off of our Host Committee.

Guys, what did you think would happen when your conference rolled around? That the rightward members of our tribe wouldn’t try to fuck with you? That they wouldn’t try to make you radioactive? “Working the phones” is a rather minor offensive tactic. And you’ve got Jim Jones at the conference, but don’t be surprised when they come back and try to press Jones and the White House against you. Are you going to whine or fight back? It’s Shabbat, so think on it.
