Via Matthew Yglesias, Weezer performs a great medley of MGMT’s “Kids” (which might be the only song Ezra Klein likes) and “Poker Face” by the hype machine known as Lady GaGa. (And that, my friends, is suppressing fire to cover my retreat, as I am pretty ready to concede affection for LGG.) The band treats “Poker Face” as something of a middle eighth in “Kids,” reminiscent of how Ted Leo folded the chorus of “Maps” into “Since U Been Gone.” I like this stuff a lot. More bands need to adapt the material of their contemporaries.

The only thing that I can’t figure out: do you hear that ride-cymbal-bell countoff at the end of the video? Could it be that Weezer transitioned into “Tired Of Sex”? If so, that’s the most perfect thing they could possibly do there, both musically and conceptually.
