Sue Myrick, via Justin Elliot:

Rep. Sue Myrick (R-NC), who wrote the foreword to Muslim Mafia: Inside the Secret Underworld that’s Conspiring to Islamize America, said today she is “very concerned” about infiltration of the military by jihadists.

The Hasan investigators, via the New York Times:

After two days of inquiry into the mass shooting at Fort Hood, investigators have tentatively concluded that it was not part of a terrorist plot.

It’s right and responsible to investigate Hasan to learn if he acted alone. It’s wrong and irresponsible for legislators to make prejudicial public statements while the inquiry is ongoing, and to suggest that Muslim Americans in the military are Nidal Hasans in waiting.

Also, this may be my last naive attempt ever to reason with a Commentary writer, but I see that Jennifer Rubin begins a roundup item about Hasan with the words “Even fellow Muslims were worried.” Rubin’s statement only has force because of the ignorant presumption that Muslims are radicals. Now, let’s leave aside the actual circumstances of this case for a moment and focus on the argument form. How would Rubin feel about the statement “Even fellow Jews were worried about Israel’s settlement activity”? Probably not so good, right? So let’s learn from that sentiment.
