Mark Millar and John Romita Jr. (JRJR is the scion of one of Marvel’s greatest creators, who has risen to that rank in his own right) have made, to date, seven issues of an extremely filthy, impolite, violent and hysterical send-up of comic books and those who love them called Kick-Ass. They produce it independently and get it distributed through Marvel’s Icon imprint for, essentially, NSFW comics. The idea that this could possibly be a movie signals that it is now abnormal not to read, ponder and develop complex and subtle opinions about comic books.
