I may not be that man, but Tom Ricks is. And my favorite part of this post is an admission he makes about the choice of photograph.
And yeah, I know I am not Derek Jeter
by tom ricks on Wed, 11/11/2009 – 5:32pmI didn’t pick this photo! I just asked for an image of a baseball player striking out.
Best,
Tom
Also, yes, I am killing time on this blog while I report out something that I think you’re gonna like…

He still wants a general inquiry into excessive political correctness in the military. I’ll volunteer for that one. Preliminary findings: not a major problem. I accept checks. Right, then, how about an ass-covering inquiry? A transfer-your-problem-to-the-next-base inquiry? Might have to do some actual work on those.
Tom Ricks has been bugging the shit out of me lately. Making the Corps remains forever a masterpiece, however.
As an example, Ricks (God bless ‘im) has been on the ‘dithering’ train — maybe by other names, I can’t recall — as long as the most recent former vice president has. By all means, I believe he is entirely sincere. But WEEKS ago, and I do mean weeks — like six — I pointed out in his comments that it was clear from the White House’s non-reaction and eventual seeming invitation of the charge that the delay strategy, in addition to being substantively utterly justified, was also an entirely deliberate PR strategy to convince as many wavering Americans as possible that the president is making a fully informed, vetted, considered decision about any escalation. Honestly, this had to have been six weeks ago. He’s put up probably three or four more posts decrying the delay now, which is of course his right, but has never addressed the possibility that maybe, just maybe the WH is doing something deliberate here, even if it is also a mistake. he just goes on and on about how he still thinks Obama can be a good president, but this PROCESS, it’s so disconcerting! What can you do in ten weeks that you can’t do in four?
Well, Tom, this, for one.
