Spencer, I love that you do this, but may I ask a question?
Do you try to list all the deaths, or do you focus on certain ones?
I ask because there have been two recent deaths of San Antonians, and I have not seen their names here.
Here’s a link to Mark Juarez, killed in Afghanistan Jan. 9th., from our local paper:

I don’t mean this as criticism; you cover a heck of a lot; just have been wondering.
I only list the deaths released by the Department of Defense. I can’t do these for every time someone perishes in the wars. It would just overwhelm me, and there would surely be redundancies. So when the DOD has contacted the fallen soldier/sailor/airman/marine’s family and released a death notice, I post it. There will inevitably be delays between first publication of someone’s name and the release of this notice. But my goal in posting these is to create as comprehensive a memorial of these deaths as I can, and I provide the phone numbers given to the press in order to give people the opportunity to further investigate/commemorate if they so desire. I hope this provides some clarity.
Yes, thanks – I figured that something like that was going on; just couldn’t quite tell what the parameters were.
I notice you have another today, from San Marcos, just up the road a piece from us, as my dad would have said.
Wonder what the DOD’s guidelines are?
Anyway, appreciate your taking the time to answer, and that you do this. It’s a good reminder for all of us of the humans affected by our government’s “policy.”
Sorry you couldn’t make it to Chicago for your concert.
