Just because I’m seeing people on twitter and various listservs I’m on wondering about this: There’s no way Tim Roemer — former congressman, 9/11 commissioner, thinktanker — runs for the Senate seat Evan Bayh is vacating. Roemer is ambassador to India. That’s a great job, managing a crucial relationship. It’s also practically an ATM after he leaves New Dehli, with endless business consulting and lobbying opportunities. Sam Stein says the filing deadline for the race is Friday. It would be absolutely crazy for Roemer to run, and so I will pay you out of my own pocket if he does.

Spencer, you are a man after me own heart.
I don’t make bets, either, unless I am CERTAIN to win.
SO?
I’ll take this opportunity then, to thank you, Spencer, for your astoundingly prolific output, I try to read it all, even if I don’t comment on each post.
Also, I appreciate your courage, demonstrated so well the other evening.
I may disagree with you, on occasion, but your integrity is never an issue.
I told you that the other night, but it bears repeating.

Ha, thanks, my friend — and to think, this is supposed to be a day off…
There’s no way for any candidate to meet the filing reqs, so the choice will have to be made by the state Party. I suppose it’s technically possible for them to put Roemer’s name on the ballot w/out any interest on his part, but it’s not real-world possible. I’d guess they’ll go with a sitting Representative from an R+ district, because they’d rather bet a House seat on the chance to win Senate than throw someone who has no campaign set up yet.
Chris Hayes points out via Twitter that Rachel Maddow owes you cash money for KTHXBAYH, which she used for tonight’s chyron.
