“You get filled with patriotic pride, and then you find out that Bruce Springsteen’s ‘Born In The U.S.A.’ is anti-American. ‘Born down in a dead man’s town/ the first kick I took is when I hit the ground/ you end up like a dog that’s been beat too much/ so you spend half your life just covering up…’ [He reads the entire lyrics in an incredulous tone of voice; manages to mispronounce 'Khe Sanh'] Hmm. Yeah! [crosstalk] … It’s time for us to wake up out of our dream state. Out of the propaganda… This is the thing that people who come from the Soviet bloc or Cuba, they’re all saying, ‘How do you guys not hear this? How are you not seeing this?’ Well, because we don’t ever expect it.”
Man, I hope no one shows him a John Cougar Mellancamp lyric sheet! Yo Glenn: Scarecrow is not about what you think it’s about.
But who is Glenn Beck to contradict Ronald Wilson Reagan? Reagan, of course, found room in his heart for ‘Born In The U.S.A.’ What, you’re going to suggest that Reagan also misunderstood or disregarded the lyrics of ‘Born In The U.S.A.’? How dare you, sir! I’ll bet that if Ronald Reagan came back to life in zombie form and demanded a blowjob, you would hesitate. The conservative movement has as its foundational principle the unhesitating, unquestioning and unfelching performance of oral sex upon Zombie Ronald Reagan. It’s long past time for Glenn Beck to fill his mouth with something valuable.

We really do need to start watching out for those crazy fascist radicals like Bruce Springsteen.
I went into an Indiana townie bar the night of 9/11. I’m pretty sure that the only two songs that played that night were “Proud to be an American” by Lee Greenwood and “Born in the USA.” Between the repeat sing-alongs from hillbilly hell, one was regaled with anti-Muslim, anti-Arab, and anti-commmon sense and decency diatribes so vile I will leave them to your imagination.
Needless to say, when I heard of GB’s little 9/12 project–to take America back to how united everyone was the day after–I recoiled with horror thinking about the vengeful bloodlust that lay beneath the unity that so many felt back then (and half-wits like Beck and David Brooks long for). Of course, in hindsight, I could not help but think of the cruel irony in which a song that complains about the brutal cost of war was played by people itching for one.
I’d much rather return to 9/10/01, thank you very much.
Where was Glenn Beck during the Walter Reed veterans hospital scandal?
As if Springsteen’s lyrics weren’t as true now as they were back in the 80s.
For Beck to demonize anyone as a liberal when what they say is absolutely true, shows that he is primarily interested in a pre-constructed right-wing agenda, even if it means ignoring reality.
With regard to 9/11: the 9/11 “Truthers” now include the Jersey Girls, over 1000 Architects & Engineers- http://www.ae911truth.org , former Assistant Secretary of the Treasury, and Jesse Ventura – don’t mess with ‘em, Beck!!
Even the arch-conservative Washington Times has a credible article on the movement.

2010 is the year 9/11 Truth goes mainstream.
