The good thing is we have the shining example of our Founding Father John Adams to look toward. You screw with Adams’ legacy at your peril.

A study in American devolution. The Cheneyites are on the move in the Wall Street Journal against this Amnesty pamphlet that found its way into Guantanamo — a pamphlet that compiles documented cases of torture committed by U.S. personnel, and which the Cheneyites treat as the basest anti-American propaganda. The acts documented by the pamphlet are indeed anti-American, but those are the sorts of things the Cheneyites wish to reinstate. And we are to believe their opponents are al-Qaeda sympathizers?

Did the picture accompanying the op-ed also run in the print version? Jeebus.
O-o-oh yeah! I had some correspondence with a local right-wing columnist who tried to convince me that the “Al Qaeda 7″ (Some of A.G. Holder’s people *gasp* defended accused terrorists and this somehow creates a “conflict of interest” on their part) was a big scandal and that this piece was somehow meaningful to that story. If the author of the piece ever managed to show that any of the people who had given the accused people the pamphlets were now working in the DOJ, there might be a case of impropriety. At the end of the piece, the author tries to suggest that recidivism on the part of released Guantanamo detainees was a big problem. Problem with that idea was that there were so many weasel words in there that I didn’t even need to see any other sources to see there were lots and lots of uncertainties regarding that issue.
