GUANTANAMO BAY — Something that genuinely made me proud to be an American today was the testimony of Army Col. Donna Hershey, the former head nurse at Bagram, who has a ludicrous number of combat deployments under her belt and made incredibly clear on the stand today that she was not going to acquiesce to any form of medical-based abuse. The prosecution asked her if anyone ever conducted an interrogation of a detainee in her hospital wards. “They tried,” she replied, ice-grilling all the way. “We would ask them to leave.”

A reporter here, amazed at how bad-ass Hershey was, remarked, “If Corsetti tried that shit, no doubt she would have put him in a stress position.”
