Sigh.
“Congress, the White House and Hollywood, Wall Street are owned by the Zionists,” Thomas said. “No question.”
All right, addled and embittered elderly individual. I won’t pile on. But this is ugly and beneath you. I’m a Zionist and I can’t get a meeting in Hollywood. I keep waiting for my big pile of Wall Street money. And somehow I can’t get the White House to see things my way on, say, pressuring Israel.
“I can call the president of the United States anything in the book but I can’t touch Israel,” she said.
Poor you. Try not saying vile shit about millions of people.

It’s even worse than that, because when I challenge right wing Zionists over their treatment of Palestinian women and children they shout “HELEN THOMAS!!” at me over and over as if I’m responsible for her hateful opinions and its somehow the same as bombing residential neighborhoods in Gaza…

A poignant anecdote…
“Try not saying vile shit about millions of people.”
Yes, I see what you mean.
I found the whole episode, and the last one as well, so sad. I know this admin and the last one have gone directly about ignoring and dissing Helen. Maybe it all got to be too much; or age; or maybe she has been harboring all this forever. Because she had been such a trailblazer, I so wish she could have left the scene with her dignity and integrity intact. Just sad.
Hmm, I wonder why its a firing offense to speak shit about the Israeli state (wich is what she was doing I recall, calling for its end) but its perfectly acceptable to be, say, Robert Spencer? I have been “trolling” a bit at M Tottens site at Pajamas Media, and the times I have been called a anti-semite joo-hater, I cant count em on my fingers. Sometimes you really end up wanting to cuss the rude, dominant, impolite semi-fascist zionists bad things, you know? (thank goodness for people like you, Spence, who destroy my budding stereotypes…)
But seriously. Marty Peretz: Good. Helen Thomas: Bad. Is it that simple?
